The Brillante annual awards recognize the outstanding individuals, non-profits, educational institutions, government agencies and companies whose endeavors coincide with the Prospanica mission and directly benefit the advancement and recognition of Hispanic and Latine leaders across the nation.

2024 Keynote Speaker:
Daniella Pierson
Daniella Pierson is the Latina founder / CEO of The Newsette Media Group, which was valued at $200M in 2022. She is also a co-founder of Wondermind, a mental fitness company she started with Selena Gomez and Mandy Teefey. Forbes reported her as, one of the World’s Youngest Wealthiest Self-Made BIPOC Women.
She started her first company, The Newsette, as a sophomore in college, and despite not having any VC funding, seven years later The Newsette closed 2021 with $40M in sales and 8 figures of profit. The Newsette Media Group was also recently listed as #16 out of 5,000 on Inc.’s list of the Most Successful Companies in America with 16,500% growth in 3 years. This success has enabled her to invest in BIPOC brands she believes in and be a part of funds like Serena Ventures.
Daniella is very open about having ADHD, OCD, and depression, and is passionate about showing the world that you can achieve success at any age, even without millions of VC dollars, while struggling with learning disabilities and mental health disorders.
She has been on the cover of Entrepreneur Magazine, and profiled in Forbes, Business Insider, USA Today, CNBC, and beyond. She also achieved the Forbes 30 Under 30 list at age 24. She has also spoken at Stanford, Forbes, Fortune, Marie Claire, and Harvard.
Additionally, she has been the star of campaigns with BMW, Aduemars Piguet (alongside her friend Serena Williams), Maybelline, and J.P. Morgan.

Brillante Submission Guidelines
As a member of the Prospanica alumni, you have a unique perspective on the people and entities that have contributed in lasting ways to the Hispanic and Latine community. You also recognize the dedication this level of leadership requires and the challenges that follow it.

The Impacto Distinguido Brillante Award for Corporate/Government Excellence recognizes a corporate or government partner who has a proven track record of success in the recruitment and retention of a diverse workforce, including at the executive level.

The Corazón Comunitario Brillante Award for Community Service Excellence recognizes an entrepreneur, government agency, non-profit organization, or any other institution or person exemplifying Hispanic and Latine leadership through their drive and success.

The Inspiración Educativa Brillante Award for Educational Excellence recognizes an institution or individual who advocates on behalf of diverse communities and students. The recipient has a successful track record dedicated to fostering Hispanic and Latine learners, and preparing them for advanced educational, career and leadership opportunities.

The Emprendedorx of the Year Brillante Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence recognizes an entrepreneur who exemplifies Hispanic and Latine leadership through their drive and success. The recipient advocates for and supports the Prospanica mission and initiatives.

The Estrella Brillante Award for Member Excellence recognizes an active Prospanica member who exemplifies Hispanic and Latine leadership through their drive and success. The recipient also steps forward as an advocate for education and community collaborations that foster advancement in initiatives to empower the Latine community and assist them to further their educational and professional pursuits.

The Liderazgo EmERGente Brillante Award for Latine ERG Excellence is our newest award. It recognizes an ERG/BRG that has a proven impact on its members, the business growth of its company, and the external Latine/Latine community. We believe that these groups lead from the cutting edge of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Only the Member Excellence | Estrella Award requires the nominee to be an active Prospanica member. Individuals and organizations involved with Prospanica or supporting the mission can be nominated for the other award categories.
Yes, recipients should be present to participate at the Gala and must attend rehearsal on October 31st. Awardees must arrive to Orlando by 2:00pm EST. If emergent concerns prevent participation, we can work with the recipient on a suitable solution. If a recipient is unable to participate, the next highest ranked candidate in that category will be declared the recipient. The only exceptions to this rule are for parents on new child leave or in an extreme family emergency. In these cases, a leader from the organization or family member may accept on the recipient’s behalf.
No. You do not have to be a U.S. citizen to be nominated.
No. The nomination and selection process is independent of conference sponsorship.
No. Nominees do not need to be Latine or Hispanic. Nominees who are not Latine/Hispanic must perform work or outreach activities that strongly impact the Latine community.
- The components of a nomination package include:
- Online nomination form
- Justification statement (650 minimum, no more than 1000 words) and a 30-second video highlighting why the nominee is deserving of the award
- Company profile or biography (500 words or less)
- Should be no more than 650 words.
The Justification Statement is a brief description of why the nominated individual is deserving of the Brillante award. This statement should be based on the specific criteria of the award category. The Justification Statement is your opportunity to provide detailed information and examples of your nominee’s accomplishments—referencing the appropriate measures for the particular award and ensuring that statements are organized and well-written will make it easier for a nominee’s achievements to receive the consideration they deserve.

- The 30-second video is a part of the Justification Statement and is required. We will follow the same criteria as the justification statement. You may use the video to highlight any past involvement or accomplishments by the nominee, to wrap up the nomination and, with examples, share why the nominee is deserving of a Brillante Award.
The Review Committee will not assess video editing creativity. For the video, nominees may choose to include creative elements or speak directly to the camera.
Nominators have the option to either upload the video directly to the form or share a public link to the video. This can be done through a public folder (recommended): Microsoft/Google Drive, public YouTube link, or a public TikTok link.
- The 30-second video is a part of the Justification Statement and is required. We will follow the same criteria as the justification statement. You may use the video to highlight any past involvement or accomplishments by the nominee, to wrap up the nomination and, with examples, share why the nominee is deserving of a Brillante Award.
The Review Committee will rely solely on the three submitted items: the Justification Statement, the profile/bio and the 30-second video.
You may reference these items in your Justification statement or video. Nothing outside of those two documents and video will be considered.
The profile/biography should be no more than 500 words and should be written in a third person format. The bio should be a personal history, including information the nominee is comfortable disclosing publicly. The profile/biography is an opportunity to share significant early-life experiences and motivating factors leading to their success. Information could include background, struggles and achievements, awards or commendations, family history, special projects, unique hobbies, or other important life events. For an organization, this is an opportunity for any meaningful information that might not be covered by the scope of the Justification Statement.
- The process has three changes. Nominators have requested a method to share clips or videos to highlight the accomplishments of the nominee. The Review Committee has made the following formal changes:
- The Justification statement should now be a minimum of 650 words and a maximum of 1000 words
- The bio statement should be written in third person, no more than 500 words
- The video should be no more than 30-seconds
- The Latine ERG award will not require a video.

Yes. However, documents should be updated to reflect the new requirements.
Yes. However, we do not recommend nominating a candidate for more than two categories in a given year. Two online nomination packages must be submitted, one for each category.
- Organizations competing for the Member, Corporate/Government, Educational, or Entrepreneur Award can only win once every five years. Thus, to be considered for 2024, an organization must not have won since 2019.
- Individuals who are Brillante recipients for the Community Service are only eligible to win once in a lifetime for the same category.

Section Committee is composed of various Prospanica stakeholders. These committee members are divided into subcommittees to evaluate the nominations.
- All recipients and the individuals who nominated them will be notified via telephone and email. A formal letter of notification with details about the conference, awards show, rehearsals, etc., will be emailed before or by Thursday, September 19.
- All recipients must accept their award and confirm travel by Friday, September 20, 2024.
A press release announcing the recipients will be posted on the Prospanica website after all awardees have been notified in writing. The nominators of individuals who did not receive an award will receive email communication indicating that their candidates were not selected for an award by the end of September 20, 2024.

- Recipients will be highly recognized during the 2024 Conference & Career Expo. In addition, recipients receive a beautiful custom award, and recognition on the Prospanica website and a national press releases.
- All recipients will receive one full conference registration, complimentary airfare to Orlando, FL and lodging for the night of the Gala and Brillante Awards on October 31-November 1, 2024. Recipients must arrive by 2:00pm on October 31st in order to participate in the Gala and Award Ceremony rehearsal.
